Nokia Black Box X kuanth

NOKIA BLACK BOX
Science has it that a black box is a device, system or object viewed solely in terms of its input, output and transfer characteristics without knowledge of its internal workings, that is, its implementation is "opaque" (black). Hence, almost anything might be referred to as a black box: a transistor, an algorithm, or the human mind.
Hence, the human mind feeds, the human mind breeds. A feeling. A whim. A muse. Maybe an idea. A thought. A spark. Into the Nokia Black Box and born a purpose. To arouse. To nudge. To seed many a minds. Nokia curates the entire ensemble. Of different manifestations and renditions of the whimsical, the strange, the enlightened. All evoke a sense of curiosity while each experience is as unique as its contributor.

kuanth x ABSOLUT x Design Singapore x ION

In conjunction with Singapore Design Festival 2009, a design installation competition will be called among five invited designers (fFurious, H55, Kuanth, Kult and Sokkuan) to create a word art installation that captures the ABSOLUT’s brand’s anthem, "IN AN ABSOLUT WORLD, Doing Things Differently Leads to Something Exceptional."
After the Singapore Design Festival, the five installations will travel as a roving exhibit to nightlife hotspots in Singapore from December 2009 – February 2010.
Exhibition venue: ION
Date: 20 – 30 NOV 2009

My concept:
I want people to open up their minds, and to see ordinary things differently.

To interpret this idea, I created a cabinet of curiosities, or wonder-room, in the form of an acrylic greenhouse, with bits and pieces of nature distilled in perfection.

By capturing nature in a state of stillness, I hope to inspire viewers to take a moment and look at how wonderful it is, thus leading them to realize that there are more remarkable things in nature that surrounds them. All they need to do is to feel the morning breeze, to listen to the wind or whistle with the birds.

They may soon find there are exceptional experience in the simplest things if they see, do and feel differently.
